- I am having a problem with the speed of my computer in loading software.
- I am running a 486DX 100 mhz machine with 8 megs of ram. I have a 345 mb
- Maxtor hard drive with a search speed of 14 ms. The problem that I'm
- having is the length of time that it takes to load software, particularly
- Windows 3.1 and Netscape. It takes approximately 40 seconds to load
- Windows and over 2 minutes to load Netscape. Also, when running the
- Nascar game (with a boot disk) the car loses control on almost all tracks
- going at speeds of 50 mph. This obviously sounds like something is
- wrong, but I don't know what the problem could be. Could it be the
- motherboard (AMI) which I purchased less than 6 months ago, or could it
- possibly be the hard drive? The entire time that the software is
- loading, the hard drive light is on and you can hear the drive running.
- I would certainly appreciate any advise or opinions.
- Thanks,
- Bruce
