  12. I am having a problem with the speed of my computer in loading software. 
  13. I am running a 486DX 100 mhz machine with 8 megs of ram.  I have a 345 mb 
  14. Maxtor hard drive with a search speed of 14 ms. The problem that I'm 
  15. having is the length of time that it takes to load software, particularly 
  16. Windows 3.1 and Netscape.  It takes approximately 40 seconds to load 
  17. Windows and over 2 minutes to load Netscape.  Also, when running the 
  18. Nascar game (with a boot disk) the car loses control on almost all tracks 
  19. going at speeds of 50 mph.  This obviously sounds like something is 
  20. wrong, but I don't know what the problem could be.  Could it be the 
  21. motherboard (AMI) which I purchased less than 6 months ago, or could it 
  22. possibly be the hard drive?  The entire time that the software is 
  23. loading, the hard drive light is on and you can hear the drive running.  
  24. I would certainly appreciate any advise or opinions.
